Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee
One of the requirements of Measure C, is the establishment of a
Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee to oversee the expenditure of money for
the construction, repair and modernization of schools by FUSD. This
committee will communicate its findings to the Board and the public to
ensure that school bond funds are invested as the voters intended and that
projects are completed wisely and efficiently.
The Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee consists of a minimum of seven
members appointed by the Board of Education from a list of candidates
submitting written applications, and based on criteria established by Prop
39:

1 parent or guardian of a
child enrolled in the FUSD

1 parent or guardian of a
child enrolled in FUSD and active in a parent-teacher organization, such
as the PTA or school site council

1 representative of a
business organization representing the business community located in the
District
-
1 member active in a senior
citizens' organization
-
1 member active in a
bona-fide taxpayers association
-
2 members of the community
at-large

When the CBO Committee met for the first time on November 13, 2006 to
organize, the Superintendent, Jane D. Smith, appointed Victor Pimentel the
Chair of the Committee. On February 5, 2007, the Committee elected
Edward Velasquez as Vice Chair.
