The California Continuation Education Association (CCEA)
selected Michele Beutler’s Career and Life Skills program at Citrus High School
as one of five programs recognized at their annual
state conference in Sacramento on April 24, 2005, as an exemplary program.
The Career and Life Skills program assists students in
learning employment and life skills. Topics addressed include workplace
expectations, applications, interview techniques, personal responsibility and
good work ethics. In the six years that the program has been in existence, over
600 students have successfully completed either the career program or the
pre-employment workshop and have been placed in jobs or internships. “We are
proud of the fact that close to 100% (of our students) are placed. Many have
landed scholarships upon graduation,” said Mrs. Beutler.
Carlye Marousek Olsen, CCEA Exemplary Program Chair, said
“The California Continuation Education Association delights in recognizing
students, staff and school programs for exemplary service to their school
community.” The CCEA will include the program in their State Directory so that
other continuation schools can contact Citrus and replicate its success at their
own school site.
