Annual FABE Recognition Dinner
On June 10, 2005, the Fontana Association for
Bilingual Education (FABE) held its annual Recognition Dinner at El Rinconcito
Linolense. The Cesar Chavez Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to
outgoing FABE President, Laura Pelaez. Outstanding Awards of the Year went
to:
- Administrator: Oscar Duenas, Director
of Core Curriculum (K-5)
- Teacher: Angela Stanfield, Juniper
Elementary School
- Paraprofessional: Marcella Rutz,
Bilingual Aide at Live Oak Elementary School
- Parent: Laura Camacho
In addition to the awards ceremony, FABE had its
installation of new officers:
- President - Angel Gonzalez
- Vice President, Fundraising - Carol Garibay
- Vice President, Membership - Veronica Villasenor
- Secretary - Sara Reyes
- Treasurer - Maria Escalera
- Historian - Khris Hughes
FABE is the Fontana chapter of the California
Association for Bilingual Education (CABE). CABE is a non-profit
organization which promotes bilingual education and quality educational
experience for all students in California. CABE has over 7000 members with
over 60 chapters, all working to promote equity and students for students with
diverse cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds. The Fontana chapter
was organized in 1990 and has over 200 members. FABE is one of the most
active CABE chapters in the state.
