At their November 3rd
meeting, Fontana Unified School District’s Board of Education approved a
Resolution designating the week of November 7-13, 2004, as the “Week of the
Retired Teacher.”
Since 1998, California
Retired Teachers Association has sponsored Retired Teachers Week as a way to not
only spotlight their members’ own extensive volunteerism but to encourage others
to do the same.
“The open secret about
volunteering is that you usually get more back than you give,” noted Norman
Gould, president of the California Retired Teachers Association. “And, in fact,
recent medical research even shows that it can be beneficial to your health!”
The Fontana Unified School
District recognizes the valuable contributions teachers have made through the
years.
