Expanded Educational Programming


Free Educational Programming from the Annenberg/CPB Available through FUSD TV 17

The Annenberg/CPB Channel which has been a long time provider of award winning educational programming is now available to cable subscribers of Fontana, thanks to a new alliance between FUSD TV 17 and Annenberg/CPB in Washington D.C.

The Annenberg/CPB Channel will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. through 3 p.m. and on selected hours during the weekends. Increased broadcast hours will unfold in the next few weeks.

The nationally distributed Annenberg/CPB Channel features renowned Annenberg/CPB educational television series that covers programming for all ages and is also a great resource for educators. Information for programming can be found at the channel website, www.learner.org. Available free nationwide, the channel has no commercial advertising, and is produced by Annenberg/CPB with the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

“We’re pleased to be able to link up with this free educational service,” said J.R.Ybarra Supervisor of Video/Media Services for FUSD TV 17. “This is a great opportunity to show our viewers in Fontana what we can do for them thanks to new technologies. We’re especially glad to be able to increase educational programming at no charge, and at such a high level of quality.”

Annenberg/CPB, a partnership between the Annenberg Foundation and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, uses media and telecommunications to advance excellent teaching in American Schools. Annenberg/CPB funds educational series and professional development workshops for the Annenberg/CPB Channel. The channel is distributed free by satellite nationwide. FUSD TV 17 is the local educational cable channel owned and operated by the Fontana Unified School District.
