More than 300 students representing seven San Bernardino County school
districts and three private schools will compete in three divisions on Saturday,
March 25 at the 2006 County History Day event at A.B. Miller High School.
This year’s theme for History Day is “Taking a Stand in History: People,
Ideas and Events.” The competition is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 1
p.m. There will be public viewing of the projects in the Miller gymnasium
from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Professors from California State University, San Bernardino, judged the
research paper entries prior to the competition.
“The judges were very impressed with the entries. They said, ‘We hope
all these students end up going to Cal State,’” said Peg Hill, coordinator of
History/Social Science for the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
Winners at the county competition advance to the State History Day, which
will be held in Sacramento May 12-14. State winners advance to nationals
in Maryland in June.
