Fohi presents "La Zapatera Prodigioso"
Join Fontana
High School's AP Spanish Club for their Spanish-language production of Federico
Garcia Lorca's "La Zapatera Prodigioso" (The Shoemaker's
Wonderful Wife).
A gentle farce, this is the tale of the tribulations which
ensue within an arranged marriage between a young woman, played by Marlene
Salinas, and an older zapatero
(shoemaker), played by Cyntia Castro. When the unhappy husband decides to leave his wife, she is
left with little option but to open their house as a public bar. As a
response, she is taunted and ridiculed by those living in her village before her
husband returns, in disguise, to test her fidelity.
Rounding out the cast are: Marlene Ramírez, Natalie
Márquez, Janet Míndez, Amayrani Figueroa, Marisela Rodríguez, Delia Mendoza,
Victoria López, Andrea Perez, Karen López, José Romerao, José Espana, José Ruiz,
Pedro R. Guerrero, José López, and Fiedel Bustamente, with Wein Sua and Omar
Rendón as the Marionetas. The play is directed by Ana Díez; technical
director is Paul Beal; choreographer is Mari Sandoval; and production assistant
is Karina Guerrero.

(2:30pm), Friday, May 19 (7pm), and Saturday,
