District Science & Engineering Fair Winners

On Saturday, February 18, 2006, 197 students representing 20 elementary schools, 7 middle school and 2 high schools participated in the District Science and Engineering Fair.

Participation in the science fair is an opportunity for students to participate in a scientific investigation.  Each student's project explores a science topic that interests them. Students identify a problem or a question, conduct research, and carry out an experiment to learn more.  Building a display and presenting results of their experiment is an important and fun way of sharing their creative abilities and the results of their investigation.

Entries were judged in 5 divisions:  K-3 Class Projects, K-3 Individual/Group Projects, Intermediate (Grades 4-5) Individual/Group Projects, Junior (Grades 6-8) Individual/Group Projects, and Senior (Grades 9-12) Individual/Group Projects.  Within each division, projects were grouped by scientific area:  Earth and Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Physical Science, Biological and Behavioral Sciences, and Consumer or Materials Science.

Judges Quality Awards were given for exceptional demonstration of skills in a given category.  Ribbons were earned and awarded to the following participants:
