Students from all over California competed at
the State History Day competition in San Diego on
May 11-14. One of the projects that won at the State competition and
will advance to the national finals is
from the Fontana Unified School District: The senior group exhibit by A.B. Miller High School
students Ivan Cisneros, Diana Herrera, and Diana Luna, titled "Sobibor:
Taking a Stand Against Hitler's Final Solution."
In addition, another FUSD project was named as an alternate for the national
competition: "Cesar Chavez: Taking a Stand for the Rights of Migrant
Farmworkers," in the category of Elementary Group Poster by Osmond Basilio,
Jessica Bugarin, and Carlos Gonzalez of Canyon Crest Elementary School.
Although they will not go on to nationals, several other
projects by FUSD students State finalists:

Sr. Individual Performance: "Joan Baez, We Shall Overcome: Taking
a Stand for Civil Rights"
- Andrea Perez - Truman MS
Jr. Individual Documentary: "Pope John Paul II"
Congratulations to all of the FUSD students who competed at
the State History Day competition and good luck to the winners will compete at the 26th Annual National
History Day event at the University of Maryland on June 11-15.
