Mary Ann Workman Writing Showcase
On Tuesday, April 11, the Fontana Unified School District
held the 1st Mary Ann Workman Writing Showcase. Teachers from Fontana
elementary, middle and high schools submitted samples of their students' best
writing after having been judged by grade level and category. From 5 to 7
pm., the writing samples were on display at A.B. Miller High School for public
viewing. (Click here for a copy
of the event program.)
As part of the grade-level content standards
K-12, purposeful writing is occurring every day across the curriculum.
During the past year, students have had an ongoing opportunity to demonstrate
their abilities as writers and authors. Beginning this year, the event is
taking on a new form. Writing selected for the District Showcase has been
judged and represents the best grade-level work by students as well as the
school's best efforts at teaching to the grade level standards in written
language from the past year.
Thank you to all our student authors for their
participation. Write on!
