Fontana
High School’s S.T.A.R. Productions will present the Tony Award winning musical
“Damn Yankees” from April 6 through April 9 in the Theodore Auditorium at
Fontana High School. This musical comedy is the classic Faustian tale of a
man who sells his soul to the devil and the battle between good and evil.
Director Lisa Sites has assembled an outstanding cast to bring this baseball
fable to life.
When Joe Boyd (played by Dennis Clement) sells his
soul to Mr. Applegate (played by Joshua Arana), he is transformed into long-ball
hitter Joe Hardy (played by Jonathan Arana) – savior of the hapless Washington
Senators. Applegate tries his best to claim Joe with the help of temptress
Lola (played by Kathryn Crane). At the same time, reporter Gloria Thorpe
(played by Nancy Avila) is trying to find out just who Joe Hardy really is!
Is Joe doomed to burn or will his love for his wife, Meg (played by Jonte Grove)
be enough to save the day?
Against the background of Paul Beal’s set designs and under
the musical direction of Jennifer Esquivel and Robert Hess, the student’s of
S.T.A.R. will perform some of the most challenging choreography ever attempted
by choreographer Kyle Bruich in this, his 10th and final show with
Fohi. You won’t want to miss it!
Reserved seats are $8 and $10. You can make your
reservations now by calling (909) 357-5500, ext. 6745. Performance times
are Thursday, April 6 at 3:30 pm; Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8 at 7
