Making History in Fontana

On Saturday, March 24, the county-wide History Day celebration was held at A. B. Miller High School.  Of the 64 awards given, 30 went to schools and students from Fontana!!

  • Of eight awards at the elementary level, Canyon Crest received four and Locust and West Randall each received one.

  • Truman Middle School earned 6 awards; Sequoia earned 6; Jurupa Hills earned 4, and Southridge earned 3. In the highly competitive category of Junior Individual Exhibits, there were 33 entries, and Jurupa and Southridge took 3 out of 4 of the top awards! Of the 22 entries in Junior Group Exhibits, Fontana schools won all four top awards (Sequoia, Jurupa, and Southridge). Outstanding work!

  • At the high school level, A. B. Miller brought home 3 awards and Summit, in their inaugural appearance, won their first championship.

To all teachers and all students who participated in this great event, we thank you for the time and talents you have demonstrated.  You’ve truly made learning come alive.

Jane D. Smith
Superintendent
