Bernie Gallagher, Hometown Hero

FUSD's Bernadette Gallagher was recently honored as a "Hometown Hero" by Loma Linda Children's Hospital for her efforts to enrich the quality of life for the children in our community.

Bernie, as she is known to her many friends, works as an Attendance Liaison in FUSD's Child Welfare and Attendance Office and continues to find ways to reach out to the community.  This past year, Bernie has been working with a nonprofit organization, Shoes That Fit, that helps build the self-esteem of schoolchildren in need by providing them with new shoes and clothing.  (Click here to read Bernie's letter that appeared in the Fall 2006 Shoes That Fit Newsletter).

We feel very fortunate to have Bernie as our own "Hometown Hero."
