Fontana High presents "The Ratcatcher's Daughter"

Join Fontana High School's Theatre Department for their production of Tim Kelly's old fashioned, western melodrama, "The Ratcatcher's Daughter (or Death Valley Daze)."

Auntie Hush (played by Alejandra Cortez) runs an orphanage in an abandoned stagecoach stop but is soon to be tossed out by unscrupulous city-slicker, Whiplash Snivel (played by Andre Rodriguez).  His arrival has been preceded by the entrance of lovely Sweet Lotta Bliss (played by Kathryn Crane), who plans to open a school.  Seeking her is the infamous Lady Pilfer (played by Laura King), who brings news that Lotta's father, a ratcatcher, has been left a fortune by his dead father - a Russian nobleman!  Since Lotta refuses to marry Whiplash, he decides to get her money by hastening her marriage to her one true love, Jack Sunshine (played by Jordan Arana), a wash-and-wear furs salesman.  Alas, Jack owes his allegiance to the bottle.  Only Lotta's love can save him, but not if Whiplash can help it!

The cast includes everything from the scruffy orphans to a lady sheriff, Death Valley Nell (played by Jessica Gamboa).  These, plus temperance leaders, Indians and assorted desert rats keep the laughs coming in a never-ending shower of hilarious situations.  The cast also includes Melissa Baas, Erica Balermino, Raul Contreras, Melanie Cook, Brenda Garrison, Erik Gonzalez, Evelyn Gonzalez, Jamie Johnson, Leslie Morales, Daizy Patterson, Marisol Perez, Monica Perez-Madrid, Natalie Reyes, Sheila Reyes and Roxanna Sandoval.

Performances will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 1:00 pm; Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 at 7:00 pm; and on Sunday, April 29 at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are only $5 but seats are limited to 100 per performance.  Call 909-357-5500, ext.6745 for reservations.
