Thank You, Kaiser Permanente Santas!
A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Kaiser
Permanente Medical Center in Fontana for bringing Christmas joy to FUSD students
and their families.
For the past fifteen years, departments at
Kaiser Permanente have raised funds throughout the year for needy families at
Christmas. In late Fall, FUSD principals are asked to recommend families
from their schools. Over 300 employees at Kaiser unite each year to adopt entire families and provide
gifts for every member of that family. The families complete a wish list
and whatever is on the list, the Santas strive to fill.
"We try to fulfill everything on everyone's
list," said Donita Banks-Taylor, the employee services coordinator at Kaiser.
"This is what the holiday season is all about - to give back to those in need."
This year on December 14, the Kaiser Santas
pulled-up to the FUSD District Office with a 28-foot truck filled with bikes and
beautifully wrapped presents for eight FUSD families that otherwise would have had
a very bleak Christmas. The gifts included iPods, Game Boys, laptop
computers, toys and dolls, and everyday items that most families take for
granted - like food, blankets and beds.
Thank you again, Kaiser Permanente. You
prove that not only is there a Santa Claus but that there are over 300 Santas
right here in Fontana.
