Career Technical Education Takes Center Stage

A recent article in The Press-Enterprise outlined the district’s plan for revitalizing career/technical training in all of our high schools.  Tracie Zerpoli, Director of Career Technical Education made a presentation to the Board which outlines the goals of this program and the individual plans for each of our high schools.  In her presentation, Ms. Zerpoli told the Board that:

The district offers 70 programs in career/technical fields.
ROP offers 35, for a total of 105 programs.
These programs serve 6000 students.
Over 100 local employers are partnering with FUSD to provide hands-on experience for our students.

All six of our existing high schools and even our newest high school, Jurupa Hills HS, are working on plans to expand the offerings in CTE and make existing programs an even stronger link between high school and the world of work.  This is the realization of an important priority established by the Board of Education in the fall of 2006.
