At their January 23, 2008 meeting, the FUSD
Board of Education adopted
Resolution #08-07 recognizing February
4-8, 2008 as National School
Counseling Week, with the theme "School Counselors: Creating Pathways
to Success."
The professional school counselor is a
certified educator trained in school counseling with unique qualifications and
skills to address all students' academic, personal/social and career development
needs. They serve a vital role in maximizing student achievement, support
a safe learning environment, and work to safeguard the human rights of all
members of the school community. Board Policy 6164.2 Guidance Counseling
Services provides for a comprehensive counseling program in the Fontana Unified
School District delivers through curriculum, individual student planning,
responsive services and system support.
National School Counseling Week highlights
the tremendous impact that counselors can have in helping students achieve
school success and plan for a career.
