Fontana Makes History at County Competition

Forty-six San Bernardino County projects were crowned champions at the 17th annual History Day competition on March 22 at Summit High School.  Individual and group champions advance to the California History Day competition in Sacramento on May 8-11.  (Click here for a complete list of Fontana champions and winners.)

The county History Day event had as its theme, "Conflict and Compromise in History."  There were three divisions with both individual and group competitions: Elementary (Grades 4-5), Junior (Grades 6-8) and Senior (Grades 9-12).  All totaled, 275 students, representing 10 school districts and a private school, competed.

History Day gives students a chance to compete in a variety of categories on a historical theme. The Elementary Division only has one category of competition, posters. The Junior and Senior divisions compete in exhibit, documentary, performance, Web site and research paper categories.
