FUSD Celebrates "Day of the Teacher"

At their April 16, 2008 meeting, the FUSD Board of Education adopted Resolution #08-29 recognizing May 14, 2008, as "Day of the Teacher."

Teachers work to open student's minds to ideas, knowledge, and dreams.  They fill many roles, as listeners, explorers, role models, motivators, and mentors.  Teachers work with commitment in forwarding the mission of the Fontana Unified School District and provide many benefits to the community, its schools, and the state of California.

"Day of the Teacher" arose out of legislation co-sponsored by the California Teachers Association and the Association of Mexican American Educators.  Senator Montoya wrote a bill and it was adopted in 1982 as Senate Bill 1546.

The Fontana Unified School District joins the State of California in setting aside May 14, 2008, as a fitting time to honor our teachers and recognize their long and excellent service records.
