The Fontana Unified School District District
recognizes and values the important role that parents play in their children’s
education. Research confirms that when parents are engaged and involved,
students’ academic performance increases.
On April 20, 2008, 52 FUSD parents traveled to Los Angeles to participate in the
California Title I Pre-Conference, “Addressing the Gap: Using Parent Involvement
to Increase Student Success and Academic Achievement.”
Parents participating in the conference will contact their school site
administration to schedule a 20-25 minute presentation at an upcoming meeting,
such as a SSC, ELAC, or PTA, to summarize the key findings shared on the
importance of parent involvement and to present action steps for strengthening
the school-family-community partnership at the school sites.
