The Groundbreaking Ceremony for
Fontana's newest high school, Jurupa Hills High School, will be
held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.. FUSD Superintendent, Jane
Smith, FUSD Board Members, district and county administration, and local
government representatives are planned to participate in the Groundbreaking.
Jurupa Hills High School (previously known as High School No.
5) will be located on Santa Ana Avenue, between
Citrus and Oleander Avenues. It has been designed to accommodate 2100
students in grades 9-12, with the potential to grow to a capacity of 3200.
The enrollment boundaries for the school have not yet been established; however,
it is anticipated that the new school will serve students residing within the
southeast portion of the District, and will draw some students currently
attending both Kaiser and Fontana High Schools.
The new school will be constructed in an all-under-one-roof
concept, which will include spaces for administration, media/library,
classrooms, food services, and a performing arts theater. The 45-acre site
will also have a 4000 seat football stadium. Jurupa Hills High School was designed
by WLC and the construction management firm is Neff Construction, Inc.
The school is expected to open in August of 2010.
