On May 31, 2008, students from Fontana elementary and middle schools participated in the district's 44th Annual Charles Pine Math Field Day.  The event was a competition between 5th 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in all areas of math and logic games.  Teams from participating schools competed and received points that determined school winners, and were awarded certificates, ribbons, and trophies.  The Math Field Day event promotes the importance of mathematics, emphasizes the fun that students can experience while participating, and reward them for doing well.
