Fontana Adult School gets a Mascot - and Soon a New Home!
FUSD
has had an adult school since 1957 when Fontana High School opened its
five-year-old campus to house the program. Since then Fontana High School
and Fontana Adult School have shared a common space and, because of their
proximity, many common traditions. But did you know that in all this time,
Fontana Adult School has never had its own mascot (no, they are not the Fontana
Adult School Steelers!). That is, until now! Meet the Fontana Adult
School Night Owls!
Recently, Fontana Adult School had a school-wide
"Draw the Night Owl" contest. Fifty-nine drawings were submitted and
posted in the administration building for viewing and students voted on their
favorite. After the 1100 votes were counted, the winner was revealed!
The new Fontana Adult School mascot was submitted by Miss Bakshi's ESL 3 class.
As many of you already know, Jurupa Hills Middle
School will be closing at the end of June. After a brief modernization,
the school will re-open for the 2009 Spring semester as Fontana Adult School's
new home. The home of the Night Owls!
