One of Our Own
We are all shocked and saddened by the passing
of Dr. Arlene Piazza on February 5th. For twenty years, Arlene has been a
close part of our FUSD family. She came to work in Fontana in 1989 as a
counselor at Fontana High School. She also was a Dean at Fohi and a counselor
at Citrus High School. From 1998 until her retirement in 2000, Arlene was an
Administrator for the Student Services division. In 2004, she was elected to
the school board, where she served ever since.
Arlene was a passionate advocate for all of us in the FUSD community. She
fought hard and successfully for better Career Technical opportunities for our
students; she was adamant that employees be compensated well, and she was an
advocate for better service to parents. She was a caring leader of the Fontana
community, and we will all miss her.
The arrangements for Dr. Piazza's viewing and funeral are as follows:
