Tokay Elementary Hosts Open House & Community Outreach Night
On May 27, 2008 Tokay Elementary School hosted
their end-of-the-year
Open House and Family Academic and Community Outreach Night.
Families had
the opportunity to purchase meals from the In-n-Out cook-out trailer while
enjoying some "cool" tunes by the Mobile Renegades DJs.
After sharing a meal, parents and students visited the Community Outreach with
booths and talked with representatives from Healthy Families, United Way, Fire Department, Healthy
Fontana, Boys and Girls Club, Food and Drug Administration, Fontana/Upland YMCA,
Fontana Aquatics, Molina Health Care, Omnitrans, the Fire Department and Smokey
the Bear (courtesy of the Forest Service). Representatives from the Fontana
Police Department were even on-hand to fingerprint the little ones!
Tokay students and teachers made academic
presentations to the families, including "What I need to know before I go to
first grade," "Little Red Riding Hood," "Language Adventure," "Accelerate Your
Reader," and "Who's smarter than a fourth grader?".
According to Assistant Principal Michele Cunha, "A
great time was had by all!"
