FUSD Celebrates César Chávez Day

ChávezAt the March 18, 2009 Board Meeting, the Fontana Unified School District adopted Resolution No. 09-20 recognizing March 31st as César Chávez Day.  March 31st marks the 81st anniversary of the birth of César Estrada Chávez, one of the nation's foremost civil rights and labor leaders.

It was the dream of César Chávez to create an organization to protect and serve farm workers, whose poverty and disenfranchisement he had shared.  He led the first successful farm workers union in American history, achieving difnity, respect, fair wages, medical coverage, pension benefits, and humane living conditions, as well as countless other rights and protection for hundreds of thousands of farm workers.
