All FUSD Schools to Remain Open

Dear FUSD Community,

We have received many telephone calls asking if the Fontana Unified School District will be closing any of its schools.

While some districts have been forced to close schools for various reasons, Fontana is not closing any schools.  On the contrary, we have recently been holding Boundary Review Committee meetings to rezone in the anticipation of the opening of Jurupa Hills High School in 2010.

Many have asked how we can continue with the construction of this high school.  Two years ago, the voters in Fontana passed Measure C, a bond that included funding for various improvement projects, including Jurupa Hills High.  The money legally cannot be used for salaries for teachers or to help the District during this budget crisis.  We are proud to add another high school to the community.

In order to assist the community in answering questions about the District, we have developed the following e-mail address:  askfusd@fusd.net.  If you are wondering about something going on in the Fontana Unified School District, this would be a great way for you to ask a question or make a suggestion.

Cali L. Olsen-Binks
Superintendent
