Summit Student Honored as Five Millionth Grad Nite Guest
Summit
High School senior Samuel Jacobo received the surprise of a lifetime last week
when he attended Grad Nite at Disneyland. Samuel was tagged as the five
millionth guest to pass through the gates of the Magic Kingdom for a Grad Nite!
As he passed through the main entrance turnstile, Samuel was showered with
confetti and greeted with loud cheering by the Celebration Street Team, had his
photo taken with the one and only Mickey Mouse, and received some amazing gifts
befitting this prestigious honor.
Samuel says he was taken completely by
surprise,"You just don't expect something like that. I was just walking
along and - bam! Everyone started cheering."
In honor of being Mr. Five Million, Samuel received a basket
full of Disney stuff, personal recognition during the Grad Night
fireworks show, $500 Disneyland Resort Gift Card, 4 passes to come back and hop
between Disneyland and California Adventure, and a one-night stay at the
exclusive Disney Dream Suite above the Pirates of the Caribbean.
The all-night tradition of Grad Nite at
Disneyland began back in 1961 as a safe place for high school graduates
nationwide to gather for a safe and exclusive after-hours party featuring
classic attractions, dance clubs and deejays from Southern California's most
popular stations. Generations of students from Fontana high schools have
kept the tradition going strong.
So, just how did it feel to be the 5 millionth
visitor to Grad Nite? Said Samuel, "It was already going to be an amazing
night but it did make it even more memorable."
