Some principals will do just about anything to get their students motivated.
Here in Fontana, we’ve had principals dye their hair purple, get made into a
human ice cream sundae, and even sit on the roof. Dr. Karolee Rosen, Principal
of Almond Elementary School, decided to up the ante. She promised her students
that if they did their very best on the recent STAR testing, that she would sit
on the roof all day long – in her pajamas!
After nearly a month of STAR testing throughout the school, students got to breathe a
sigh of relief and come to school in their jammies for Pajama Day on May
22. Said Dr. Rosen, “We needed a day of relaxation after the tests. So everyone
came in their comfy PJs and enjoyed the day.”
Dr. Rosen got to “enjoy the day” in her comfy PJs up on the roof of the school.
But she had a huge bag of cards, notes, and pictures that students brought
outside and sent up to her that kept her going. Said Dr. Rosen, “One little guy
even told me not to worry because he would be in my office ‘in charge’ while I
was on the roof.”
