At the
September 16, 2009 Board Meeting, the Fontana Unified School District
announced Jay Caballero was approved as the new Principal of Date
Elementary School.
Mr. Caballero has served as an Assistant Principal at Fontana Middle School
for the past six years. Before being promoted to Assistant Principal, he
was a 7th grade math and science teacher at the school. Mr. Caballero has
also held the position of Middle School Coordinator at the District Office.
Before coming to Fontana Unified, he was an 8th grade science teacher in Rialto.
Although he was born in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Caballero grew-up right here
in the Inland Empire - in Fontana's neighbor to the east, Redlands. He
received a B.A. degree in Biology from Cal State, San Bernardino, an M.A. in
Educational Administration from the University of Redlands and is currently
working on an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Redlands.
"I feel honored, yet humbled, in being selected principal of Date Elementary
School," said Mr. Caballero. "I look forward to working with the Date
community, establishing positive relationships, and providing strong leadership
that will help in continuing the academic and social achievement of our
students."
“Mr. Caballero's strong commitment to collaborative work and professionalism
will serve him well in his new position as Principal of Date,” said Oscar Dueñas, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. “I
feel confident that he will make a smooth transition from the middle school to
the elementary school environment.”
