At
the June 23, 2010 Board of Education meeting,
the Board adopted Resolution No. 10-48 honoring
the Mayor of the City of Fontana, Mark Nuaimi.
Mayor Nuaimi recently announced that he will be
stepping down as mayor at end of the month.
The resolution recognizes Mayor Nuami for his
service to the City and support of Fontana
Unified School District during his term of
office.
Mayor Nuaimi successfully joined FUSD in a
partnership for providing outstanding
after-school programs on all elementary and
middle school campuses, and to support the
renovation and utilization of district
facilities to promote community use.
He has made parks a community priority, which
resulted in the construction and/or
reconstruction of Fontana Park, Ralph M. Lewis
Sports Park, Almeria Park, Fernandez Park,
Veteran's Park, Bill Martin Park, Jack Bulik
Park, Pat Marrujo Park, Coyote Canyon Park, and
Rosena Park. Mayor Nuaimi pursued and
obtained grant funding that will result in the
completion of the Pacific Electric Trail System
across the City of Fontana, which is utilized by
several school bicycle clubs.
During his tenure, Mayor Nuami founded the
Mayor's Youth Advisory Council. He has
supported the Fontana Unified School District by
speaking at schools and events, and has truly
been an advocate for children.
