At their March 3, 2010 meeting the FUSD Board of Education
adopted Resolution 10-14
recognizing the week of March 15, 2010 as Adult Education Week.
The California Adult Education Program serves state and
national interests by providing life-long educational opportunities and support
services to all adults. These programs address the unique and evolving
needs of individuals and communities by providing adults with the knowledge and
skills necessary to participate effectively as productive citizens, workers, and
family members. Students have the opportunity to improve basic skills such
as reading, writing and mathematics, earn their high school diplomas, obtain
General Education Developmental (GED) certificates, prepare for citizenship,
learn English as a Second Language, and learn job skills in various Career
Technical classes. Adult Education provides unique opportunities to
motivate high school students, thereby reducing the drop-out rate, and
increasing the graduation rate for Fontana Unified School District.
The Board of Education of the Fontana Unified School District
is proud to support Adult Education Week, the week of March 15, 2010, and urges
residents of Fontana to become familiar with the services and benefits offered
by adult education programs.
