Students from Regional Occupational Program Advanced Law Enforcement Platoon 001
were honored at a graduation ceremony on Saturday, December 15, 2009. Family,
friends, and teachers of the graduates gathered before 8 a.m. on a cold,
rainy morning to fill the multi-purpose room at the new Adult Education and ROP
Center. The attendance was so great in fact, even in the pouring rain,
that it quickly became evident that Platoon 002 will have to hold their ceremony
at a larger venue this coming May.
Thirty five students representing all four comprehensive high schools as well as
alternative programs received Certificates of Completion, and several students
were recognized with special awards. The graduates were looking very
polished, dressed in their full cadet uniforms. The pride in the
accomplishments of the students was evident on the faces of everyone in
attendance.
Instructors Mr. Mejia and Mr. Moreno shared with the audience how hard these
students had to work and how committed they had to be to make it this far.
They are looking forward to meeting their new group when Platoon 002 begins
classes January 16, 2010.
