Cal State San Bernardino Hosts Top High School Seniors
On November 4, 2009, California State San Bernardino hosted more than
300 San Bernardino County high school seniors representing 55 high schools who rank in the top 1
percent of their senior classes. Twenty-five Fontana Unified School
District students were among the county's best and brightest high school
recognized for their academic excellence at the annual Presidential Scholars'
Banquet.
Students who are among the top 1 percent of the
high school graduating class of 2010 in San Bernardino County can receive a
$5,000 annual scholarship, beginning in the 2010-11 academic year. The
scholarship is renewable for up to four years - and a potential $20,000 - as
long as they maintain a 3.5 grade point average each year. The scholarship
covers all tuition and fee expenses as well as textbooks and some incidental
spending money.
"We're delighted to invite all of them to
attend CSUSB - we'll make a place for them," said Cal State San
Bernardino President Albert Karnig. "We realize they are students who could
attend virtually any school they choose, but they're at CSUSB, which is an
overwhelming testament to the quality of our academic programs, faculty, staff,
student activities and the remarkably positive experiences that prior scholars
have had on our campus."
The FUSD seniors honored for being in the top 1%
