Dear Fontana Community,
The first part of the 2009-10 school year has gone by so quickly and it has
been an exciting and eventful time. Parents have met with their children’s
teachers during parent conferences last month. Our elementary and middle
schools have completed their first trimester and the high schools will be
wrapping-up their first semester in just a few weeks. Elementary and middle
school report cards have already been sent home and report cards for high school
will be in mail boxes next month. And, the Thanksgiving holiday is just
around the corner!
As I reflect on the many things for which I am thankful, I want to take this
opportunity to share just a few of them with you: I am thankful for our
students who come to school every day ready to learn – you give us all a daily
reminder as to why we are here. I am thankful for the support of the
parents in creating an outstanding learning environment within our community.
I am thankful for the teachers, support staff, and administrators who really
care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at
heart. I am also thankful for the work of our volunteers who tirelessly
contribute their time and talents, enriching our schools.
But, before Thanksgiving, we will be celebrating the Veterans Day Holiday on
November 11th. You may have noticed the link at the bottom of our webpage,
“Fontana Unified School District Salutes Alumni Serving in the Military.”
Take a few moments to think about these brave service men and women, many who
are far away from home. I am thankful for their willingness to guarantee
the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted. May they come home soon
and may they come home safely.
On behalf of the Fontana Unified School District, I would like to wish all of
you a happy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy!
Best Wishes,
Cali L. Olsen-Binks
Superintendent
