At their January 19, 2011 meeting, the FUSD Board of Education adopted
Resolution No. 11-05
recognizing as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.
Profound economic and technological changes in our society are rapidly
reflected in the structure and nature of work, thereby placing new
responsibilities on our educational system. Career and technical education
provides Americans with a school-to-career connection and is the backbone of a
strong, well-educated workforce, which fosters productivity in business and
industry and contributes to America's leadership in the international marketplace.
Career and technical education gives high school students experience in
practical, meaningful application of basic skills, such as reading, writing and
mathematics, thus improving the quality of their education, motivating potential
dropouts and giving all students opportunities for leadership in their fields
and in their communities. It offers individuals opportunities for lifelong
learning, which provide them with career choices and potential satisfaction.
Cooperative efforts between career and technical educators, business, and
industry stimulate growth and vitality in the local economy.
The Fontana Unified School District offers rigor, relevance, and
relationships that engage students in career path preparation and options for
higher education.
