FLIP Program Receives Award

Chief Bob RatcliffeAt the 62nd Annual California State Juvenile Officers' Association (CSJOA) Conference on March 4, the Division of Juvenile Justice of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation named the Fontana Leadership Intervention Program (FLIP) as the 2010-11 Distinguished Program.

The Division of Juvenile Justice Award is presented to applicants who have a positive impact on the juvenile justice system, and have made contributions in the areas of delinquency prevention, services to youth, and the overall operation of a juvenile division or unit.

FLIP was launched in Fontana last year by the Fontana Unified School District, in conjunction with the Fontana Police Department.  By using a triad-approach of education, leadership, and self actualization, FLIP's mission is to bring about a lasting, life-altering and positive change in the attitude and behavior of the students.
