During the
29th annual Inland Area Science and Engineering Fair on April 5-6, 2011, more than 750 fourth through
twelfth grade students from Riverside, Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino
(RIMS) counties competed for a chance to go to the State competition.
Students received gold, silver and bronze medals, with the gold winning Junior
and Senior Division students in
each category selected to participate at the
state level.
Eighteen individual and five teams from the Fontana Unified School District
participated in the regional fair at the
National Orange Show, and one of those students, Sana Hadyeh a tenth grade
student at Summit High School, will be advancing to the California State Science
Fair, which will be held in Los Angeles on May 2-3.
Students participated in three divisions: Elementary (fourth- and
fifth-graders), Junior (sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders) and Senior (9th-
through 12th-graders). Individual and group projects were judged in 19
categories of science - from microbiology to zoology, math and physics to
electronics, and consumer sciences to earth sciences.
Congratulations to
all of these young scientists for their hard work and a job well done.
