At
the March 16, 2011 Board
Meeting, the Board of Education
recognized Fontana's Crossing
Guards of the Year, Carol Ybarra
and Roberto Borroto.
Carol (in photo at left, with Chief
Bob Ratcliffe) is the crossing
guard at Binks Elementary School
in north Fontana. Roberto,
who was unable to attend last
night's Board Meeting, is the
crossing guard at Poplar
Elementary School in south
Fontana.
The City of Fontana contracts
All City Management to provide
crossing guard services.
Each year All City Management selects the
crossing guards of the year in
communities throughout the state
in order to bring attention to
the important work done by all
crossing guards.
Every school day, crossing
guards like Carol and Roberto
are out in force throughout the
city of Fontana. The
safety of our students is vital
and school crossing guards are a
highly visible presence at
busy intersections at and near
school zones. With a neon
vest, stop sign, and a whistle,
crossing guards make sure
children coming to and leaving
school cross the road safely.
