About the A.B. Miller High School
Conservatory of Dance
The A. B. Miller High School Conservatory of Dance is a pre-professional
dance program designed for high school students within the Fontana
Unified School District. It is designed and dedicated to the training of
talented high school dancers for college level programs and professional
dance employment.
The Conservatory offers dance students rigorous training in jazz, modern, ballet, pointe/variations,
choreography and performance. Students enrolled in the Conservatory program must be able to
commit to an 9 period day three days per week in addition to taking one dance course during the
school day. Non A. B. Miller students must be able to commit to eighth and ninth periods three
days per week.
All conservatory faculty members are master teachers with extensive experience in teaching,
choreography and performance. The program offers Royal Academy of Dance certificated ballet and
Horton based modern dance technique. The Conservatory program is designed to provide dancers
with the necessary discipline, technique, commitment and emotional development for a career in
professional dance or enrollment in college level dance programs.
The A. B. Miller High School Conservatory of Dance is a member of the National Honor Society for
Dance Arts. This program serves to identify high achieving dance students of junior and senior high
school age within the Conservatory. Students selected for the National Honor Society are then
nominated for the National Dance Education Organization’s Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic
Achievement Award, the highest student dance award in the nation.
