Students from three of Fontana Unified School District’s high schools will be
attending upcoming California Boys State and Girls State programs this summer.
Kamryn Kyser and Nick Bernal of Kaiser High School and Tony Aguilera, Jared
Axelrod, Angel Delgadillo, and Juan Hernandez of Summit High School will be
attending the 74th Session of the American Legion California Boys State on June
18-25, 2011 at the California State University, Sacramento. Cezar Meza and David
Lepe of Fontana High School and Joe Rajagukguk of Kaiser High School were
selected as alternates.
Janel Preciado of Fontana High School, Meem Masud of
Kaiser High School, and Sherbi Salinas of Summit High School will be attending
the 68th Session of the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State on June 26-July 2,
2011 at McKenna/Claremont College. Gabriela Campos of Fontana High School, Kali
Knudsen of Kaiser High School, and Jazmin Hernandez of Summit High School were
selected as alternates.
Boys and Girls State is one of the most prestigious
youth programs in the Unites States today. Students apply and are chosen for
Boys and Girls State during their junior year of high school. Delegates possess
a high degree of character, leadership, patriotism, service and interest in
government. The Boys and Girls State summer program offers a practical
experience that teaches young men and women about state government and how to
become effective, influential leaders. Boys and Girls State educates students in
the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship.
