Approximately 950 elementary, middle, and high school students
participated in the State History Day competition in San Jose on April 28-May 1, 2011.
History Day is a chance for young scholars to show off their research, analytical and writing skills in one of six media: as a 2-dimensional display, paper, exhibit, performance, documentary or web site. Students ranging in age from 4th to 12th grade pick a topic related to the annual theme, which this year is "Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes,
Failures, Consequences."
Fontana Unified School District had a total of 7
county champions (3 individual and 4 group) who qualified for
advancement to the State competition (click
here to see who). Our two winning teams will be heading off
for the National History Day competition at the University of
Maryland on June 12-16, 2011.
