On Monday January 23, 2012 the ASB of Fontana High School hosted the American Red Cross in a Blood Drive.
Two-hundred-seventeen (217) Fohi students volunteered to donate blood throughout the rainy day which equals 651 potentially saved lives according to the American Red Cross.
Two-hundred-thirty-six (236) originally signed up however the Red Cross could not keep up with the overwhelming number of Steelers who came in the small gym to donate blood. Many students were turned away due to the high numbers.
“Fontana is a phenomenal school for blood drives!” said American Red Cross representative Estella Gonzalez. “The students here are so polite and generous, and everything is so well organized by ASB.”
Fontana High School Principal Dr. Lisa Romero stated “I am so proud of our students. Our students not only have Steeler Pride they also have tremendous pride in their community.”
Fontana High School will be hosting a second Blood Drive in March. |
