Meet Renee Castanon, New Principal of Summit High School

Renee CastanonAt the May 10, 2017 meeting of the FUSD Board of Education, the Board approved Renee Castanon as the new Principal of Summit High School.

Mrs. Castanon was born in Loma Linda and grew up in West Covina. As a student at William Workman High School, the ASD Director, Mr. Rick Tefft, inspired her to go into the field of education. After graduation, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Cal State University. She continued her education at Cal Poly, Pomona where she earned a Master's Degree, Teaching Credential and Administrative Credential.

She began her teaching career in the Hacienda La Puenta Unified School District at Sierra Vista Middle School and her alma mater, Workman High School. Mrs. Castanon came to Fontana Unified in 2007, where she took the leap into administration. She has served as an Assistant Principal at Fontana and Kaiser High Schools, before taking over as the Interim Principal at Summit High School earlier this year.

Fontana Fun FactMrs. Castanon is currently in training to run her first marathon.
