Recognitions at the October 11th Board Meeting
During each monthly Board of Education meeting, time is allotted for recognition of students, staff, business partners, and schools that bring honor to the Fontana Unified School District and further its mission to improve the quality of education. There were several recognized at the Board Meeting on October 11, 2017.
Pledge of Allegiance
Christian Velasco, a second grade student at Dolores Huerta International Academy, was selected to lead the Board of Education in the Pledge of Allegiance.
"Christian is a scholar who is here to learn," said Superintendent Randal Bassett. "He is read, discuss and write about any topic in both languages. His positive drive and high energy motivates other students to learn. Christian is always ready to accept a challenge and never gives up. He is constantly asking for feedback so that he can improve his work. Christian exhibits the PBIS expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible to his peers and staff and he is always wanting to help either in the classroom or the playground. Christian is a model bilingual/biliterate scholar who has a bright future ahead of him."
Christian did an outstanding job and is the first to conduct the pledge in both English and Spanish.
