Board of Education
The Board of Education provides direction for operating the District through
actions taken at its meetings. They develop the policies by which the
educational programs and other business of the District are carried out.
Proposed policies require two public readings prior to final adoption to allow
for citizen comment.
Board Meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of the month at the John
D. Piazza
Education Center at 6:00 pm. This schedule may change during the summertime.
You may view the scheduled Board Meeting dates at the link below.
If you
are a Fontana Time Warner Cable customer, you can see the board meeting live on
channel 17 (and rebroadcast each weekend at 12:00 noon and the following
Wednesday at 6:00 pm). Meetings are open to the public except for closed sessions,
which the Board is permitted to hold to discuss confidential matters relating to
employees, students, or litigations. Actions taken in closed session are
reported out at the end of the meeting. Special meetings and study
sessions are held as needed. Board Members may not act individually in the
name of the Board; action may be taken only when they are meeting in formal
session with a majority of the members present.
Times are allotted at Board of Education meetings for the
general public to
address the Board, both on closed session and regular meeting items.
Persons wishing to address the Board are requested to fill out a "Registration
Card to Address the Board" and adhere to the provisions described therein.
Please submit this card to the recording secretary at the meeting prior to the
call to order.
