Setting Boundaries for New Schools

The school boundaries are selected to represent long-term enrollment needs based on:

  • Overcrowding
  • Withdrawal from the multi-track, year-round calendar schedule, and
  • New developing areas

Target opening day is set and the Facilities Planning Department begins working on potential boundaries.  Current enrollment projections and development trends are taken into consideration.

Boundaries are set as close to the school as possible, reducing the need for transportation services.  Also taken into consideration are the presence or absence of crosswalks and hazardous crossings.

Alternative boundary scenarios are presented to the BRC for their consideration.
