State and District Assessments
State Assessments
All public schools in California must administer
state mandated assessments, including the California Standards Test (CST), the
California Achievement Test (CAT/6), the California High School Exit
Exam (CAHSEE), the CELDT and the California
Fitness Test. The Assessment and Evaluation Department orders, distributes and collects all
materials for these tests. The California Department of Education
posts aggregated and disaggregated results for each assessment on the Internet.
To further support use of these data, our department prepares and
distributes score reports, and assists schools as they attempt to
assign meaning to the results. We also mail reports to the
parents of each student. Finally, we work with teachers and
administrators to develop their understanding and meaningful use of
state and federal accountability reports to monitor and improve
instruction.

District Assessment
The Fontana Unified School District administers
standards-based tests to students in mathematics and language arts for grades K
through 12. The Assessment and Evaluation department collaborates with the
Elementary, Secondary, Special Education, and English Language Learner Departments, with input from teachers, to
develop these tests, which are aligned with California
standards. We also order, distribute and collect all materials for
these tests in a manner similar to the STAR assessments, along with providing
support for the use of these data to monitor student progress
towards state standards.
