The Fontana Unified School District BTSA Induction Program, in conjunction with the University of San Diego, will offer five units of graduate level extension credit each year for completion of the program. This extension credit is available for the Participating Teachers and Support Providers.

Program for Participating Teachers

Seventy-five (75) hours annually are required for Participating Teachers to complete the BTSA Induction Program. The required hours allow the teachers to earn five semester units of graduate level extension credit. The fee is $55 per unit (to be paid by the Participating Teacher) for a total of $275.

Year One:

• 45 hours of individual coaching sessions with the Support Provider around the Formative Assessment for California Teachers (FACT). Average 1 hour per 30 weeks.

• 25 hours of seminars (Induction, Orientation, Colloquium)

• 4 hours Grade Level Network

• (3) 1 hour Portfolio Reviews and Interviews with a program leader

Year Two:

• 45 hours of individual coaching sessions with the Support Provider around the Formative Assessment for California Teachers (FACT). Average 1 hour per 30 weeks.

• 25 hours of seminars (Induction & Orientation make-up (if needed), professional development workshops, seminars, Colloquium)

• 4 hours Grade Level Network

• (3) 1 hour Portfolio Reviews and Interviews with a program leader

Program for Support Providers

Seventy-five (75) hours annually are required for Support Providers to complete the BTSA Induction Program. The required hours allow the Support Providers to earn five semester units of graduate level extension credit. The fee is $55 per unit (to be paid by the Support Provider) for a total of $275.

• 45 hours of individual coaching sessions with the Participating Teacher around the Formative Assessment for California Teachers (FACT)

• 15 hours of monthly seminars

• 10 hours to prepare documentation

• 5 hours to observe the Participating Teacher (including pre-observation conference and post-observation conference)

Support Provider documentation to submit to the BTSA Induction Coordinator

A portfolio containing:

• A cover letter describing the content of your work with your Participating Teacher

• Examples of work from two Participating Teachers (Five examples of each)

• Three written reflections concerning mentoring a Participating Teacher (one per trimester)
