Kindergarten Enrollment

Time is fast approaching to enroll your kindergarten student for the 2012-13
school year. Registration packets will be available at the Enrollment Center and at all
elementary schools by January 9, 2012. Please adhere to the
Kindergarten Enrollment Schedule
for your school so we can provide you with the best service possible.
Transitional Kindergarten
Senate Bill (SB)1381 amended California Education Code (Section 46300,48000,
and 48010) to change the required birthday for admission to kindergarten
beginning with the 2012-13 school year.
Beginning in 2012-13, Kindergarten
students must be 5 years old on or before November 1, 2012. Click here
for more information.
Enrollment of Preschoolers for Kindergarten
All preschoolers going into kindergarten for the school year 2012-13
must register for kindergarten at the Enrollment Center.
Kindergarten students will be enrolled in their home school (based on attendance
boundary) regardless of where they attended preschool.

If you wish to apply for an
Intra-District Transfer, to go to another school, you need to do it during the
month of January and return it to the school requested (click
here for more information about Intra-District Transfers). However, the student
will be enrolled in the home school until you receive your approval from Child
Welfare and Attendance to go to the school requested.
Enrollment Requirements
It's important that you pay close attention to all the requirements needed for
enrollment. Missing some of the requirements could result in a delay
and/or having to return to complete enrollment.
-
Proof of age: Birth Certificate (it can
be from the hospital).
-
Immunizations: Make sure your
child has all vaccinations needed for Kindergarten at the time
of enrollment.
We
can not enroll a student who is missing vaccinations.
Please bring the immunization record.
-
A physical examination is required to
enroll in kindergarten, not more than six months prior to
entering school. If you're waiting to keep your
appointment and it falls within your week of enrollment or
after, please bring proof of your appointment from your
health provider office at the time of
enrollment.
-
If your child is getting immunizations at the same time as the
physical exam, you need to wait
until he/she get the immunizations to enroll.
-
Proof of Address: Currently utility
bills, like gas, water, electricity, rent receipt or lease
agreements, or escrow documents. Your name and address
need to show on the bill.
NOTE: If your family
is living with another family, the person whose name is
on the utility bills needs to come to the Enrollment Center and
sign a Declaration of Residency. The person must bring a
current utility bill and a picture I.D.
This needs to be done at the time of
